Trendradar Function
The function of the radar is to show the most important future trends and relate them to a selected industry, organization, company or topic.
A radar offers mega and macro trends for selection and allows them to be evaluated according to various criteria (e.g. influence on the topic/organization, etc.). The result is a presentation of the most important trends for the respective topic.
Creating a Trendradar
- Starting from the Workspaces:
- Go to the dashboard of the desired workspace
- Click on the Create new + button
- Select "Trendradar" and click on Create +
- Starting from the Tools:
- Click on the Create new + button
- Select the workspace in which the Trendradar is to be created
- Select "Trendradar" and click on Create +
- Then select the default template for the radar and click next (>) at the bottom right
- Now define the title, description, industry or sub-industry and other settings such as end date and status for your radar. A description is necessary to precisely define the goal and task of the Trendradar and to enable participants to make an accurate assessment.
Note that all settings (except the industry selection) can be changed later. - The next step is to select the mega and macro trends that are to be available to the participants during the evaluation.
- The radar is now ready for use and can be further configured (see configuration).
Structure of a radar
A Trendradar consists of the following tabs:
Basic Information
Here you will find
- the description and task of the radar,
- an overview of the participants (managers of the radar always see the participants box; members only if it has been activated in the settings),
- the participant statistics with the status of the evaluations (only visible to the manager of the radar),
- a download function for displaying all evaluations in an Excel table (only visible to the radar manager),
- optionally a discussion belonging to the Trendradar (can be opened by the manager of the radar).
Megatrends
Macrotrends
The macrotrends for each individual megatrend are listed on this page. Ratings can also be made here and the ratings of others can be displayed.
The evaluation is based on up to four criteria, which the radar manager can define in the settings. In addition, expert comments can be read and chances and risks can be formulated for the individual macro trends.
Key Insights
The entire Trendradar is presented here in the form of a portfolio with a list and automatically derived standard strategies and procedures.
The "Conclusions" submenu contains final conclusions, findings, strategies and procedures that the radar manager can create individually and publish for everyone.
Statistics
Here, the ratings of individual segments can be compared with each other and further information such as trend life cycle and frequency distribution can be read.
As a radar manager, you can see a summary of all chances and risks for each macro trend.
Configuring and setting up the radar
Once a radar has been created, a range of setting options are available, which can be accessed via the three-dot menu at the top right of the title screen > Settings:
Settings
The title, description, evaluation period and possible views can be edited here.
Macrotrend Questions
The macrotrend questions can be edited, shown and hidden or a new question can be added here. A maximum of four questions can be activated.
The predefined macrotrend questions are mandatory for some result statistics. If you hide them, the following result statistics will also be hidden: Key insights, competence influence matrix, trend life cycle.
Participants
Participants can be added or removed in the participant management. The roles of the individual participants can also be defined (manager, member, guest, read-only). The creator of the radar is automatically a manager.
It is also possible to send invitations or reminders to participants using the Bulk actions button.
Segments
Participant ratings can be grouped and displayed in segments. Multiple assignments are also possible.
Publish Views
Here you can select which ratings the radar participants are allowed to see (segments, team rating). As a radar manager, you can always see everything, even if it is deactivated.
Trends
All trends available in the radar that were defined when the radar was created can be selected and deselected here. You should bear in mind that if you deselect a trend, any participant ratings that have already been made will be lost.
Working with radars
Manager Role
Managers create radars, define the objective of the radar and the respective task and select the trends to be evaluated. They manage the participants and their roles and determine what is to be displayed in the radar (trend facts, chances & risks, key insights).
The manager controls the process and the results of the evaluation. Via the participant statistics, the manager can track the evaluation progress of the participants and download the evaluation results.
Managers can also start discussions in the "Basic information" tab or create a general conclusion on the evaluation results under the "Key Insights" tab.
Team member Role
Team members evaluate the trends specified by the manager according to the radar task. They study the individual trends and give their assessment of influence, competencies and other criteria. Each participant can see their own results and, depending on the settings, also the team results. Members can also take part in discussions and leave comments on chances and risks.
Guest Role
Radar guests evaluate the trends specified by the manager according to the radar's task. They study the individual trends and give their assessment of influence, competencies and other criteria. Guests can only see their own assessment and cannot participate in discussions or other comments (chances & risks).
Read only Role
Participants with the "Read only" role can - as the name suggests - only read the results.
